MNN. Sep. 1, 2184. [Article written 125 years into the future.] Kanata is the original Mohawk name of Canada, the land that was temporarily occupied by the invaders. It means “settlement” of Indigenous people from coast to coast. Toronto and Ontario are both Mohawk words.
Did you know that once upon a time we were infested with people from the old country? They came here uninvited and stayed a while. They wouldn’t stop messing up Great Turtle Island and finally had to leave.
The o-tsi-no-wen-ko-wa, the rats, were not original to Great Turtle Island. They came with the ruffians on their sailing ships. These invaders and their pets had the same character, parasitic, dirty, greedy, destructive of the environment, disease ridden and had a preference for greasy processed franchise food. The Indigenous always told these interlopers and their slaves we could not stand their destruction and theft. They would not stop.
This story is about some of the things they did to us way back in 2009. They were coming to the end of their cruelty and fantasy about being the dominant class of the world. They panicked when we started to resist their greed for our land, resources and lives. Their fraudulent authority based on threats, violence and ignorance started crumbing. They bullied and murdered even more of our people for a while. It didn’t work.
A Mohawk woman of the Haudenosaunee community of Six Nations codenamed DubbleJ71@aol.com told this story on August 31, 2009 about some of the hysteria of these vermin.
“OPP's "Operation Oscar" has been in full force for over a month now. They are trying to regain their illegal authority over Plank Road backed by the other foreigners on Kanata, which is getting overrun by desperate red neck carpetbaggers.
Caledonia has been made into an OPP hotspot again. The latest hit by the OPP Gestapo, Nazi CANADA, Fascist ONTARIO and the Haldimand Storm Trooper is to harass customers of Indigenous business enterprises on Highway 6. Their Brown Shirt mouthpiece, Gary McHale, and his band of terrorists complained to the municipality, police and Canada Excise.
Last night my family and I were going to the mall. We approached Highway 6 and 6th line. About 6 OPP police cars were parked along the highway. Several officers were standing by. One cruiser had its emergency lights flashing, which is one of their attention-getting toys.
I pulled over and got out. Two Indigenous women were standing by the road near their car. The two Canada Excise agents had on thick bulletproof vests, without the capes, to protect themselves from dirty looks. They need this silly get-up to make them look strong, powerful and invincible. They hid in the crowd. These two ladies had bought products at one of the shops on Highway 6. Bogus charges were thrown at them and their products were seized. In effect, Canada Excise and OPP claimed they have the gun power to extort their share of "unpaid duty”!
I informed one of the ladies if she took this to court, she could win her case. The OPP and Canada Excise are violating our rights to trade, barter, self-determination and autonomy.
Then the OPP goons told me to get back into my car and leave and that I was interfering with their crime in progress.
I told the OPP goon that just because he had guns and tasers didn't mean a damn thing. He had no legitimate authority or jurisdiction on Okwehonnwe land. He threatened to arrest me for obstruction of justice and speaking the truth. I asked him what "justice"? Another OPP told me to complain to OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino, an Italian immigrant. They wrote down my plate number and drove away”.
125 years ago this nasty foreign colony on Kanata did not want our children to be fed, clothed or to prosper on our land!!! Strong arming and bashing was how they were treated in the old country. This did not work on Onowaregeh.
The puppet Indian band council and their co-conspirators were set up by the foreigners to violate our sovereignty. They just waited for their money, orders, kisses and strokes from their alien bosses. Eventually the Indigenous people resisted too much, the economy melted down and the money became worthless. These traitors were paraded through the community and exposed for espionage and conspiracy. Many chose to go on the sailing ships and planes to the old country with their bosses where they died with the rats in the gutters of Europe. Some called this justice.
Yes, our people constantly resisted. That’s why you are here today. As you children can see, these bullies stayed here as long as they could steal from us. Now they’re gone. We’re still cleaning up Great Turtle Island and trying to bring back the original environment, plants and animals. Aren’t we glad they f..ked off and never came back?

Quick Takes

So...I've been at this now for six months. Yesterday's post was No. 150. And, as has become my custom, it's time to start or finish a month with some random tidbits lumped under the umbrella of Quick Takes. Before I begin, thanks to everyone for reading this blog, even if sporadically, and especially so to anyone who's taken time to post a comment.

-- A shout-out for National Geographic. Some people may make fun of N.G. as boring and old school. Not me. Every month that it arrives, it offers spectacular photography and superb writing, which together illuminate issues and cultures around the world and transport me to unfamilar, unreachable places.

In this month's issue alone, for instance, there's a great feature about king penguins on Possession Island, north of Antarctica ("Every Bird a King"), and a gripping a story about the failed state of Somalia ("Shattered Somalia"). See if these excerpts pull you in:

First comes the Noise, the turbulent din of king penguins calling, fighting, courting, like the ultimate schoolyard uproar. Then the smell hits, a choking reek of fish and ammonia from the birds' guano. But the assault on ear and nose is only a teaser for what awaits the eye. When photographer Stefano Unterthiner climbed a volcanic ridge on Possession Island—a wet, wind-blasted speck in the Crozet archipelago some 1,400 miles north of Antarctica—he found himself staring into a valley filled wall-to-wall with king penguins, tens of thousands of them, all standing as if gathered for a mass rally. The occasion was summer in the Southern Hemisphere—egg-laying season, the time when penguins, so agile and quick in the water, clumsily come ashore to molt, find a partner, and with luck produce a new crop of chicks.

This land is bred for trouble. Its nearly 250,000 square miles are, for the most part, deadly dry. Somalia's inhabitants have engaged in a constant competition for its scarce resources—water and pasturage—since antiquity. According to the great Somali ethnographer, I. M. Lewis, Somalia's occupants "form one of the largest single ethnic blocks in Africa." By tradition they are herders of goats and camels and cattle who share the same Islamic faith and the Somali language, and until the colonial era in the late 19th century they continuously occupied much of the Horn of Africa—including what is today Djibouti, northeastern Kenya, and the eastern portion of Ethiopia. In the Somali psyche, fierce nationalism coexists with equally fierce pastoral individualism. It is not their way to look to government for solutions. What held Somalia together—and sometimes drove it apart—was its elaborate clan system.

-- Putting a face on the president's critics. A thoughtful piece in the Aug. 30 New York Times Magazine by Matt Bai ("The New Old Guard") reminds us of the difficulty Barack Obama had connecting with older voters in last year's Democratic primaries and suggests what lies behind the "generational unrest.

For all the shouting that has dominated these town hall meetings on health care lately, they have yielded a few important insights. The first is that the town hall itself has probably reached the end of its usefulness in the Internet age; if you’re looking for thoughtful dialogue, you might as well hold your next meeting on the stern of a Somali pirate ship. The second is that we now have a visual sense of the kind of voter who is militantly opposed to Obama’s health care agenda and, more broadly, to the president himself.

The typical anti-Obama activist tends to be white, male and — perhaps most significant — advanced in age. A poll conducted earlier this month by CNN and Opinion Research showed a rather stark age divide when it came to health care: 57 percent of voters under 50 said they favored the outlines of a Democratic plan, but that number was a full 20 points lower among voters over 65. In three Pew Research Center polls going back to April, senior citizens consistently gave Obama’s job performance lower approval ratings than did than any other age group.

Missing Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each day now, I miss Martin Luther King, Jr., more and more. Each time I hear of the increasing number of dead in Afghanistan, the torture continuing and the secret renditions continuing, I miss Martin Luther King.
When John McCain quickly conceded and faded into the background, I knew something was up. There was an agreement, or at least an understanding, that Obama would only give the minimum, only tread water, to keep the public placated. He would do as little as possible about making real change in America.
It began with the talk of the Obamas' search for a hairless dog when they moved into the White House. Then there was the frolicking in Paris. But it is the deception over the war that is the most telling.
To placate Americans, Obama moved the war to Afghanistan, but he did not end the war. The youths of America, considered the expendables, are still being sent there to die to keep the war machine going. Their blood provides the dollars for war profiteers, the mercenaries and the US economy.
When it comes to holding Bush and Cheney responsible for torture and violating the Geneva Conventions, even a smooth smile won't be enough for Obama. If he fails to ensure that Bush and Cheney are held responsible for war crimes, Obama will have failed as a president.
I think now of Martin Luther King, his passion, commitment, focus and direction. What would he say about Obama's white cabinet, about the choice of Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State.

On the border of Arizona and Mexico, the tactics of the Bush administration continue. Now, humanitarians placing water for migrants dying in the desert are being charged in court. Thirteen were arraigned on Sept. 2, 2009. This year has been one of the deadliest ever on the border of the United States and Mexico. So far more than 183 bodies of migrants have been recovered in southern Arizona this fiscal year. An increasing number of migrants are Indigenous women and children. They are Mayans and others desperate to survive as their ancestral lands are seized in Mexico and Central America.
This week, Obama went on a bike tour in the homeland of the Aquinnah Wampanoag and refused to meet with the Indian Nation. It is the type of refusal on ancestral homelands that Native Americans do not forget. It is the type of error people make when they become overly confident.
Meanwhile, it seems most Americans were terrified by the Bush administration and the fact that a mentally deficient person was president of the United States. Now it seems that Obama may bore us to death.
But there is nothing boring about torture. There is nothing trite about youths giving their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan because of the lies of politicians. And when it comes to courtesy and honor, memories are long.
Most people are so relieved to have Bush and Cheney out of office, that they are afraid to criticize Obama. And that is exactly what all the power brokers are betting on -- that no one will notice that they have been duped.

Filed Under: Politics President Barack Obama went on vacation in the homeland of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts but turned down a meeting with tribal leaders.
Obama and his family spent a week on Martha's Vineyard. The tribe's reservation is on the western part of the island.
During his vacation, Obama went on a bike tour in Aquinnah, the tribe's headquarters. Bettina Washington, the tribe's historic preservation officer, said he probably saw signs on the reservation that oppose Cape Wind, a controversial wind turbine project.
"He had to ride by it twice," Washington told The Cape Cod Times.
Washington said the tribe wanted to share its culture and history with the Obama family, especially his two young daughters.

US to probe CIA torture/Obama continues secret renditions
The US attorney-general has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate allegations of abuse by the CIA during interrogations.
Eric Holder's appointment of John Durham, a federal prosecutor, comes as a CIA report released on Monday revealed that US interrogators threatened to kill a suspect's children and sexually assault another suspect's mother.
The announcement of the investigation coincided with a White House admission that Barack Obama's government would continue the previous administration's practice of sending terrorism suspects to other countries for detention and interrogation. Blackwater, the CIA and the assassinations
The news reveals the CIA hired Blackwater for assassinations. No real news there, but the question remains: Did the US hire Blackwater to assassinate blacks, or look the other way, during the assassinations on the streets of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina?
On the Danish documentary, 'Welcome to New Orleans,' white men on video tape said in 2005 that shooting blacks after Katrina was like hunting:
"MAN 1: You had to do what you had to do. You know? If you had to shoot somebody, you had to shoot somebody. That simple.
