50 life lessons

In recent days, folks on the Internet have been sending around a list of "45 lessons life taught me" purportedly written by a 90-year-old columnist in Cleveland, Ohio.

Well, it's actually 50 lessons and the columnist was 50 when she wrote them three years ago. Here's a link to the website for Regina Brett, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated columnist at The Plain Dealer.

There you'll find a link to the column itself: "Regina Brett's 45 lessons and 5 to grow on"

Which starts like this:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
I love that No. 4.
