The world watched as Catherine Middleton revealed her Alexander McQueen gown and Cartier tiara as she made her way into Westminster Abbey. The French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace dress featured long lace sleeves. Some of the most memorable wedding dresses of years past also had lace sleeves, including Grace Kelly‘s gown for her 1956 marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco, and more recently, Ivanka Trump‘s dress by Vera Wang for her nuptials to Jared Kushner in 2009. “The dress has the same buttoning up the sleeve as princess Grace’s, but hers had a bell skirt,” InStyle‘s fashion director Hal Rubenstein said. Despite the similarities, one thing is for certain, he asserts: “The dress will get copied like mad.” Would you wear a wedding dress with lace sleeves like Middleton?
