Forget the romance of dirty, complicated fire pits and chimineas, even if they are on Mom's wish list. Maybe she simply hasn't strolled by the new BrasaFire showroom at 1648 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice  and spied these clean, sleek alternatives.

Abrasa Fueled by bioethanol, the ventless fireplaces and portable fire lamps are eco-friendly, and they add a little heat and a lot of ambiance anywhere, whether it's dining room, bedroom, patio or poolside.

Centerpiece fire lamp, left, in chrome, white or black, $185;  Avani ceramic fire lamp, above, in white, chrome or a floral pattern, $415 at www.brasafire.com.

AEcoya Mothers Day The limited-edition Ecoya LOVE candle, below right, offers a slightly smaller flame with a largely enticing champagne scent, accented by notes of grapefruit and strawberry. Each 100% soy candle is hand-poured and has a lead-free cotton wick, extending its love to the earth. Pretty satin packaging handily eliminates the need for wrapping. 10 oz. candle, $36 at Candle Delirium in West Hollywood or at Candledelirium.com.
