The bright pops of color that are trending for spring don't always translate well when it comes to footwear, which is why Creative Recreation's brightly hued shoes recently caught my attention.
The Paint Dipped Cesario XVI is a plain canvas hightop sneaker in a shade of off-white/beige that resembles a blank artist's canvas (or, alternatively, an office cubicle wall), with the front third dipped in a bold shade of blue, red or yellow, a look the brand's creative director Rich Cofinco explained was inspired by “rubber dip coated canvas gardening gloves.” (Note that, although it may look like it, we're told the shoes are not actually covered in a rubber dip paint.)
The colorful kicks, which retail for $90, started shipping to retailers last week — including the Beverly Center's Bloomingdale's and Shiekh Shoes stores locally — which means they should start hitting shelves sometime in the next two weeks. That's about the same time they'll be available for order via Creative Recreation's own website.
